Our property came with an adorable little cabin nestled in the trees, with the sound of the Cedar River nearby. It was in complete disrepair, but we could see it had lots of potential. Now that we have the new barn in usable condition, we have been working on remodleing the cabin. The plan is to rent it to a horse lover who can help out a bit, especially when we want to travel. We are now getting close to being finished with the cabin remodel, and expect to have it ready for rent around June 2011.
Cabin details:
The cabin is approximately 600 sqr feet and has a single main room for the kitchen, living room, dining area, with a loft bedroom accessed by a spiral staircase. In addition, it has two side rooms which are the bathroom and the laundry room. The cabin is nestled in the trees, built on the edge of a small gorge which has a winter creek running down through it in the rainy months. Views of the trees and the sunset are awesome.
Rent details:
We will be asking $850 per month as the base rent, this amount includes all utilities except electricity. We would expect the renter to have the ability to care for our horses when we travel, and would prefer someone who would like to work off up to half of the rent. Chore assortment would depend on the skill level of the renter, but may include things like stall/barn cleaning, horse grooming, horse walking/training, or any special skills the renter may have. The cabin has a nice Lodi wood burning stove, and we have plenty of wood on the property which can be purchased, or the renter can assist in the cutting and splitting of the wood instead.
